Public description

A community to discuss men and men's issues.

We are concerned about ways that men experience sexism, gender discrimination, unequal treatment, double standards, and rigid gender roles in our society. Our goal is to help discuss Men. We want to make the movement big! Men's issues are deflected too often - too many people don't see that men experience discrimination at all cross culturally and in their own cultures.#### Description This sidebar scrolls

A community to discuss men

This sub is to discuss the social construction of masculinity. No single form of masculinity exists. The sub is not concerned with a singular masculinity or single form solutions. Our goal is to discuss men and the ways that men, the ways, reasons, in space and time that different societies enforce male roles in different cultures.

#Ways to help the Men's Rights movement grow..

  • Always gender equality, nothing more or less

  • An open, inclusive approach where all those who are willing to learn, listen, and support are welcomed

  • A focus on the topics and on helping spread awareness without getting sidetracked by drama or infighting with other movements

  • Support for all men, including and perhaps especially focusing on those who are not gender normative or who have been silenced or overlooked

  • Avoid blanket negative generalizations of other progressive movements, and please look past the labels which others may choose for themselves (MRA, feminist, etc) and welcome anybody who wishes to support us

  • Equality is not a zero sum game, and the Oppression Olympics is divisive and irrelevant, as anyone experiencing discrimination deserves our advocacy regardless of which group has it "worse"

  • • In these ways, we hope to bring recognition that masculinity is a legitimate, worthwhile, and desperately needed goodness. Your masculinity is not an inherent reflection on others benevolence

  • Sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other form of hate speech is not allowed.

  • No cross-posting; if you would like to discuss something taking place on another part of Reddit then please post a screenshot and link it in a text comment and refer to other rules.

  • No image posts. If you have an image you want to share, include it in a self post with some commentary.

  • If you wish to discuss gender roles please do so in a text post using the text box, explain what you wish to discuss about the content. A specific quote or quotes are encouraged especially for paywalled articles

  • • When submitting a link please post a comment in a text post with the link as to why you wish to discuss this topic. Ideally this is in the form of a question that relates to the text. Failure to do so will result in a ban unless cleared with mods.

  • Unsolicited relationship advice is not welcome.

  • Remember the Reddiquette on voting: the down arrow is for comments that add nothing to the discussion. It isn't to voice disagreement; you can do this in a response and explain why you disagree.

  • Bans start at 14 days. Appeals of bans will be subject to mod judgement.

  • BE NICE!
